AI can bring unprecedented speed to urban planning,
Making it possible to process vast volumes of spatial, environmental, demographic and infrastructural data.
But a city is not merely a collection of datasets.
It is a living and changing ecosystem of people, places, aspirations, conflicts and compromises.
In their interview with Coordinates, Prof. Dr. Mahavir and Dr. Prabh Bedi reflect on
what AI can do and more importantly, what it cannot.
AI may help planners see patterns that would otherwise remain invisible.
It may simulate alternatives, anticipate pressures and support more informed decisions.
But city is not merely a spatial problem waiting for an algorithmic solution.
AI may help us design the city of tomorrow.
But whose tomorrow, that cannot be decided by AI alone.
