Mar 2012 | No Comment

Leica Geosystems is delighted to announce the latest editions to their cable locator family, the Leica Digicat 600i and 650i series, accompanied with Logicat software, set to revolutionize underground cable location.

Building on the success of previous models, the new Leica Digicat 600i and 650i with their unique data capture and onboard memory function supports operations management initiatives to increase on site safety by detecting cables and identify operator training needs.

The Leica Digicat 600i and 650i make locating underground cables and pipes a simple and efficient task, increasing the operator’s productivity and their profitability. The Digicat 650i offers the user all the features and functionally as the Digicat 600i with the added benefit of service depth indication. When using the Digicat in conjunction with the Digitex 100t or Sonde in 8 or 33 kHz modes, operators can determine the depth of the buried utility, providing a clear advantage when conducting ground surveys.

Both the Digicat 600i and 650i locators have the added benefit of Bluetooth wireless connectivity. It allows the Digicat to integrate seamlessly with mobile mapping technology to log survey data, in addition to enabling wireless Bluetooth data transfer.

With the unique Logicat software, calculation records can be retrieved and collated helping to increase onsite safety, whilst identifying training needs.

Logicat software retrieves the following information from the locator:

  • Time & date information
  • Usage duration
  • User identification
  • Detection mode used
  • Service detection
  • Product fleet management
  • Diagnostic check
  • Management reports

Andrew Allen, Leica Digicat Product Manager at Leica Geosystems Ltd, sees the products as an important step in increasing the safety during excavation projects: “We are extremely excited about the Leica Digicat 600i and 650i launch, for the first time ever, operators and management have an insight into how their locators are being used. Safety equipment can amount to a large expense for companies and if these products are not used or maintained correctly, then safety is compromised. Used with the Logicat software, management has the ability to recognize poor usage, pinpoint the exact user and provide training to ensure maximum efficiency.”

Not only do the new products offer these unique capabilities, all of the models represent the latest design in cable technology, with state-of- the-art Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and intelligent software, the i-Series locators continue to make light work of ground surveys.
