Busan extends Digital Twin partnership with LX

May 2026 | No Comment

Busan Metropolitan City is extending its partnership with Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) by three years to strengthen its digital twin-based urban management capabilities. The city plans to accelerate digital transformation across administrative and citizen services based on pilot project outcomes.

Busan announced on the 20th that it has agreed with LX to extend their digital twin competitiveness enhancement agreement by three years ahead of its expiration. The original agreement was signed in 2023. This extension aims to ensure stable operation and advancement of the pilot zone project.

Based on the existing agreement, both organizations successfully won the 2024 “Digital Twin Pilot Zone Development” public competition. The administrative and public service platforms currently operate on LX’s cloud servers. Busan plans to use Busanjin-gu, the pilot zone, as a hub to expand digital twin technology across the entire city.

The city also strengthened the public nature of its platforms. Busan registered trademark usage rights for its citizen-facing platform “1365 Twin,” blocking commercial use and clarifying its status as a public service.

Service upgrades continue. The platform provides citizen-oriented services including urban air quality management, smart emergency response, and artificial lighting safety monitoring. IoT sensors installed on buses collect and analyze fine dust and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) data. The system also provides emergency facility locations, optimal route guidance, and artificial lighting impact analysis for urban safety management.

Busan plans to improve user manuals and case studies to increase citizen accessibility and expand its digital twin-based safety service model nationwide.
