Blue Marble Geographics releases version 8.1 of the GeoCalc Software Development Kit

Jun 2021 | No Comment

Blue Marble Geographics has announced the immediate availability of version 8.1 of the GeoCalc® Software Development Kit (SDK). The GeoCalc SDK provides developers with the advanced coordinate transformation toolkit behind Blue Marble’s Geographic Calculator, allowing them to incorporate it into their own programs.

With the GeoCalc SDK being widely used through many industries, recent updates keep the program up to date with the most current and relevant geodetic information. The new release of GeoCalc now uses the v10.018 EPSG repository. It has added support for two newly released magnetic models, the World Magnetic Model 2020 (WMM2020) and the International Geomagnetic Reference Field 13th generation (IGRF13). Added support for projections Michigan Lambert Conformal Conic 2SP and Krovak Modified is now included, along with transformations from the updated ETJTZU 2019 libraries for Czechia.

With GeoCalc users in mind, improvements are logically integrated to make the software easier to use. Updates related to ease of use in GeoCalc 8.1 include enhanced reading of coordinate reference systems (CRS) from GeoTIFF images, better handling of areas of use defined outside the standard +/- 180 range, easier user interface controls to promote systems to Early Bound CRS types and better handling of equidistant cylindrical projection types.
